Category: Let's talk
/ been blind since 2006.prior to thhis i attended school. on occasions i would drive to the beach, take long cruises just driving. itt settled my restlessness. i would also go clubbing and pretend to know how to bust a move. i did lots of mandatory reading, talked to some classmates and would hang out when time permitted. i have never collected objects. never had a garden, was not a pro cook or listened to talk radio. god, this sounds like a feel sorry for me rant but i tell you, it is not. rather a rant about what hobbies, or things one does after loosing their sight in adult hood. there are some pro's and con's. i just dont want to vegatate! i am too young and pretty still! if you have lost your sight in adulthood, how do you keep active?do you try to restart your old life? am i just feeling the holiday blues? do i need a beer or perhaps a joint? geez, cant waite to read some of the responses. so chime in me blind fuckers, chime in.
I have been blind my whole life but I think your question applies to a lot of us. My daughter having recently moved out has left some holes in my life I've been working to fill.
I'd say look at MeetUp.com and enter your city in there and see what kinds of groups they have out there. Check out a few hobbies if you want. I've toyed with the idea of collecting a few different types of things but haven't settled on anything substantial yet.
You smoke, so you might want to take up the pipe. It's a whole different experience from cigarettes and cigars. I did some of that when I was isolated. Can't really here where I live now because of law changes in Portland regarding smoking in places now. Not even bars.
But even picking up the ukulele this past summer has filled some of my time. I don't think you're feeling sorry for yourself. Welcome to the midlife blues, brother.
Have a beer.
It is hard to know. I also had a major drop in life, and sometimes filling it is difficult, and other times I'll get busy.
Get fit, that will take up much of your thinking and day, because you have to work out, plan your meals and schedule for a while until you get it pat. Not much, but some time.
You'll also need to read about programs, and find places to buy your supplements and learn to make good shakes and foods.
Get transport.
I don't know your current physical condition or abilities, but if you've got a way to get about, it helps when you want to just go have a java at the local Starbucks. Brab your laptop, book, walk, bus, cab, and go have a java. It is something to do.
Evening make that a beer at the local pub.
Maybe you get in to sports while at the pub, so you'll go hang out during the game of choice, meet some people.
Maybe grab a hobby. Whatever you like.
If you've got people you want to see figure out a low cost way, and travel. Maybe you do it by bus, so it is cheap, and it will take you some time.
To anser your question, I'd have to know your situation, and how it effects you, but these are some ideas.
leo, never!!!!! Never getting there! lol lol lol but, yes i will check out the site you reccomended. ty bro
reals, food for thought. *smile* might see if the local gym is running a special for the holidays. ty bro!
Lots of sexy guys or guys getting sexier at the gym too. Smile.
so true. so true. guess sometimes i am clouded by depression and pain. i suffer from lower back. so i find it hard to get up and about. however, was thinking. should i invest some three hundred dollars at the gym if i am not going to commit to it? the issue is the quality of life. i mean if i am in pain will i make the effort to head to the gym? not sure. since i tend to give in to pain and the easyness ofvegging. he he he
